Mission: All Our Yesterdays
Location: Starbase Frontier

It was the start of Alpha Shift on Starbase Frontier. Today was just a normal Tuesday, there was nothing expected to be going on today. No ships were due to dock or depart, and there was no signs of any Tholian or Gorn activity.

The doors of Main Operations opened and in walked Captain Kagami Izumi. She held a cup of hot coffee in one hand as she entered the room. "Morning everyone. What we got today?" she asked.

The Delta Shift crew, for once, was in relatively high spirits- a stark turnaround from just a month ago, where it seemed they were always on edge, waiting for something bad to happen.

"As it stands, we are on track to break our record of 34 days without incident!" One of the Ensigns proclaimed as he stood up and arched his back. "No Tholians, no Gorn, no Klingon insurgents, no pedestrian riots- just peace and quiet!"

"Dude, you've totally jinxed us now," the Ensign sitting next to him shook his head and sighed.

"I can appreciate a quiet day." Kagami replied simply.

"So, Captain- any plans tonight with your new boyfriend?" a third Ensign teased, seeing as it wasn't really much of a secret to anyone that Kagami was now going steady with one of the merchants. Not like she would've had much luck in trying to keep something like that private anyways, especially considering that she'd become something of a poster girl for Starfleet in the past decade or so. Of course, that was also hardly to say that the public eye could be intrusive, but word of mouth tended to spread rather quickly when it came to the life and times of one Kagami Izumi.

"Remain on task ensign." Kagami said back firmly. Although she enjoyed a less firmal setting in Ops, there were sone things that she didn't openly discuss with the lower ranks.

Joseph had made his way to the Main Operations Center, face buried in a PADD. He was still waiting for the delivery of his fighters and their pilots. He wondered if they were coming in at sublight speed as he stepped off the lift. He was sipping at a drink with a straw before he heard the Ensign proclaim loudly. His ears flattened to his head a bit, his tail twitching beneath his uniform jumpsuit. However it wasn't his place to say anything.

Laughing with a Brikar male in Starfleet yellow, Soghla' Thorillo left the turbolift with the Brikar. Thor recently met this particular male, while the two seemed to have reserved that same holodeck several days ago.

The Brikar introduced himself as Dax Mok, an Ensign in Security. The two hit the holodeck together in a callisthenics program that had them achieve friendship by the end of level 10.

They both had scheduled another battle campaign and had to prepare for duty shifts, of course Dax knew Thor was the Executive Officer. It had been fun to surprise the Klingon when they reunited at the turbolift hub and both ordered for Ops.

Dax was on the smaller side of size for a Brikar and quite young for his species, the two chatted about various sports and combat styles til the door opened at Ops. Thor headed to the centre of Ops while Dax stomped his way to the Security 2 console so he may support Lieutenant Cooke.

Meanwhile, Thor approached the new starfighter chief. "Lieutenant Frost, good day," the Klingon grinned.

Joseph looked up from his PADD and his musings and nodded his head. He spoke "Good day sir." He smiled a bit at the man "How are you this morning?" taking another sip of his coffee as he looked at the Klingon commander.

"I will not take sleep for granted again," Thor replied with a toothy smirk, "that's for sure. Carry on Lieutenant," he made his way over to Kagami. "Captain, did you have a good night sleep?" He chuckled.

"Yeah, I did thanks." Kagami replied. It had been about five weeks since the visit from The Sonno, and the station had returned to normal by now.

Arriving in Ops Marina offered a warm smile to all present, she too had enjoyed a good night’s sleep after the disruptions of their previous guests. “Good Morning everyone, I hope you all had as good a night’s sleep as I did?”

"Damn straight, I did." Jane remarked, the security chief not far behind Marina. "I don't think I'll ever take sleep for granted again."

Joseph perked his brow a bit, his ears perking towards Jane as he grinned and spoke "Oh really? Let's remember this the next time you decide to binge one of those classic anime shows again." He decided to tease her a bit, possibly projecting some of himself on to her.

William barely glanced up from his console, just content to have somewhat normal conversation instead of the quiet. Everything was peaceful and quiet which meant it was the perfect time to make sure everything was working as it should.

"What better way to fall asleep then watching something you enjoy?" William chimed in as he finally looked up. "Better than staring at the ceiling and counting dust."

Looking over to William when he spoke, Joseph perked his ears a bit. He tilted his head and spoke "Listening to a babbling brook.. Or the ocean. That helps me a lot. Keeps me grounded. Something I picked up from my mother..." He stopped himself, trying to not mention her that much. He didn't want it known that she was an Admiral.

[TAG Sickbay]

"Alright, Yazawa, what did you do this time?" Maki sighed as she helped Nico up onto the biobed.

"Oh nothing much..." Nico smirked. "Just had a little skirmish with a power relay. You know how it is..." she said as she held up her hand which had a minor burn on it.

Maki pulled out her tricorder and carefully examined the wound.

"Nerves are still in tact, but we're probably going to have to repair the skin tissue sooner rather than later," she remarked as she analyzed the tricorder readings. Nothing that can't be handled with a quick application of the dermal regenerator, but in order to ensure the skin graft heals probably, I think it may behoove you to take the rest of the day off."

She glanced up at Nico. "I take it you've already filed an injury report with your supervisor?"

"It gave me an excuse to come annoy you..." Nico smirked.

Maki rolled her eyes. "You know, I can't say I ever missed those days..."

[Kagami's Office]

Kagami flicked took a sip of her coffee as she read through the latest reports. The Starfighter craft were due to arrive this week, more civilians were due to be opening establishments on the Galleria, and today they were expecting three transports to arrive along with four freighters. Starbase Frontier really was starting to become a hub of activity.

"Looks like we're starting to get off the ground properly..." She muttered to herself as she looked over the reports.

"Tsukasa... What are you on about? I'm trying to read over here!" a voice said from the direction of the couch.

"Oh, I'm sorry..." Kagami said in response. "Wait... I'm not Tsukasa..." she then looked up at the couch.

The source of the voice was a teenage girl, with purple hair, blue eyes and wearing a pink and white school serufuku uniform. She was sat on the couch, one leg crossed over the other and nose deep in a Manga book. The girl also looked up and their eyes met.

It was like looking in a mirror. Kagami was looking at... herself but from eighteen years ago.

"Who are you?" Kagami asked simply. "Where did you come from?"

The girl opposite her blinked a few times in surprise. Then lowered her book and looked around in a confused expression emerging on her face. "I'm Kagami Izumi. Where am I? This isn't the Library! Is this another one of Kona-Chan's pranks? Did someone give her a holographic generator... You look like me. Who are you?!"

"I'm... Captain Kagami Izumi of the Federation Starbase Frontier..."

"Kagami Izumi... Starbase... Federation... Starfleet... Wait... I was going to apply to Starfleet... What's going on here?!" the younger Kagami asked.

[Main Operations]

The doors of Kagami's office opened and out walked the Captain, she looked around rather confused. "Is everything alright? Is something going on here?" She asked.

The Alpha Shift crew, of whom by now were mostly settled in to pick up the slack for the outgoing Delta Shift, glanced at one another with a look of confusion.

"Erm... nothing out of the ordinary, Ma'am?" one of the Lieutenants spoke up. "We just got finished speaking with the first transport we were expecting today, and they reported that everything was fine-!"

"Funny you should say everything is fine... Because... Well... This..." Kagami said as she took a step to one side to reveal the younger version of herself standing behind her looking around in awe.

Marina gave the young girl a curious look, she was most definitely a younger version of Kagami but how?

"I think we have a problem people..." Kagami sighed.

The Alpha Shift crew let out a collective groan as they realized that they likely had a very long day ahead of them.

Never a dull moment on the Frontier, it seemed...

As Jane let out a sigh, her combadge chirped:

"Security to Lieutenant Cooke: We've got a bit of a problem here."

Jane tapped her combadge.

"Cooke here; what seems to be the is-sue..."

Jane trailed off when she heard what sounded like her own voice on the other end:

"So realistic: I didn't know commercially available holotech had this degree of realism!"

"You'd best get down here and see for yourself, ma'am."

"I'm on my way: Cooke out." Jane tapped her combadge to close the channel. Discreetly as she could, Jane dismissed herself from Ops to catch the nearest turbolift.

Thor approached his Captain and glanced between them. "Well this is new." He muttered and did another glance between them. "Certainly adorable," he chuckled.

"I am not adorable!" Both Kagami's protested in unison.

[Security]

Jane arrived back in Security in short order to find waiting for her a blonde teenage girl dressed in a familiar three quarter sleeve baseball shirt that remained one of her most prized possessions: The font on the shirt's front read "USS MISSOURI NCC-1810" encircling a Starfleet delta. Furthermore, she was dressed in a familiar pair of tight jeans that Jane remembered loving to wear as a teenager because she thought they made her look hot, but in retrospect, they did her ass absolutely no favors.

"Alright, what's the situation, Lieutenant?" Jane asked the security officer watching the young girl.

The junior Lieutenant shook his head.

"She just appeared in your office, ma'am." He explained. "I thought she was you coming back for something you forgot until she started saying things about a holosuite in her grandmother's attic."

Grandmother's attic? Jane thought. She suspected she might know the exact day this young lady had come from...

"Alright, let me handle this..." Jane said, wishing to speak to the girl directly.

Approaching the young girl, it really was like looking into a mirror. A mirror through time. The girl looked up from her musings as well and locked eyes with Jane.

"Hi..." Jane greeted warmly. "Who are you? And where did-?"

"Are you my sister?" The girl suddenly blurted out.

Jane was taken aback.

"I'm... I...What?" She spluttered.

"My sister." The girl repeated. "I was always told I was the oldest, and nobody ever said anything that I had an older sister in Starfleet... Maybe you're one of my cousins...'

"Well, in a cosmic sort of way, you could say I'm your sister..." Jane admitted.

"I knew it!" The girl exclaimed. "Though, frankly, that still doesn't add up... Mom would have had to have been..."

"She was the right age when I was born..." Jane replied, attempting to dispel any dirty notions the younger girl might have. "I'm Lieutenant Jane Cooke; Chief Security Officer of Starbase Frontier. And, you are...?"

"Patricia Cooke." The girl confirmed what Jane already suspected. "Sophomore at Harry D. Jacobs High School... So, big sister I didn't know I had until today; is being in Starfleet really as cool as grandma says it is?"

"Oh, it's the best." Jane said. "Why do you ask?"

"Well, my dad says they're building a new USS Missouri, and I really want to serve on her." Patricia explained. "So, I was thinking of dropping out of high school to make it happen."

Jane could feel her heart breaking again. It hadn't been that long ago since the Missouri had been declared lost with all hands...

"Maybe it... Couldn't hurt to show you around a bit." Jane shrugged. "Give you an idea of what Starfleet life is really like."

"Really?" Young Patricia's face lit up with excitement.

"Yeah," Jane nodded. "And for the full experience, we'll start with the place that every Starfleet officer is required to go at every new posting..."

Starfighter Briefing Room

Joseph had been going over more data he had received about the new starfighters that were due any day now, along with his crew, when he heard a soft voice coming from the corner of the room "Daddy?" the voice pointedly at him. It started Joseph just a bit, causing him to stiffen up, tail doing the same under his uniform tunic. Turning slowly in his chair, he saw a small boy come in to view, dirty blond hair with red cat ears. He was hugging his tail along with a stuffed Sehlat as he stood there.

Joseph got up slowly from his chair and spoke softly to the boy "Hey kiddo.. What's your name? Are you lost?"

"I'm Joey... I wanna see daddy. He a cap'n! At least dat's what mommy says." The little boy spoke proudly, though he was still a bit afraid. He couldn't be more than six or seven.

The elder Joseph smiled softly to the boy when he heard some odd chatter coming from the security comm channels. He spoke lightly "Well. How about we go see if we can find your daddy, okay? Can I pick you up?" as he knelt down and opened his arms. The little boy quickly toddled his way to Joseph and leapt in to his arms as he spoke "You big bruddah."

Joseph smiled and nodded as he spoke "Yeah. Just call me big brother." before he stood up and headed out of the briefing room, PADD of schematics and rosters long forgotten on the table as he made for the closest turbolift. He ordered for the Station Operations deck, needing to see the Captain about this.
